WELLSBORO - Nine people were sentenced Monday in Tioga County Court, with President Judge Robert E. Dalton Jr. presiding.
One person was sentenced to intermediate punishment:
Nathan B. Maldona, 32, of 40 Decker St., Mansfield, six months with the first 30 days under house arrest/electronic monitoring and a $750 fine for driving under the influence, a second conviction within 10 years, on June 13, 2010, on East Avenue.
One person was sentenced to probation:
Daniel JK Paxson, 21, of 11 Cowanesque St., Tioga, 24 months and a $150 fine for possession of contraband/controlled substance. According to police, on Jan. 15, 2010, Paxson put 12 Tramadol pills, a non-narcotic pain reliever, into a wastebasket in the men's bathroom under a garbage liner in the lobby of the Tioga County Prison. The drugs were picked up by inmate Brennan V. West, 26, of Mansfield, who was cleaning the bathroom as a member of a custodial crew and was found with the pills during a search. West then was to deliver the pills to Paxson's younger brother, Paul E. Paxson, 20, of 6 Water St., Wellsboro, also an inmate, police said.
In January of this year, West was sentenced to three months in the Tioga County Prison and 36 months' total supervision for possession of contraband/non-controlled substance. In November, the younger Paxson was sentenced to one to two years in state prison for criminal conspiracy.
Seven other people were placed on accelerated rehabilitative disposition. They are:
Vianca Lynn Sanchez, 20, of 2053 N. Fourth St., Philadelphia, six months' probation for simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and underage drinking for an incident that occurred on Feb. 27, 2010.
Corey James Sherman, 19, of 113 E. Highland St., Elkland, 18 months' probation for simple assault and terroristic threats for an incident that occurred in Nelson Township on April 7, 2010.
Arthur J. Smith, 49, of 190 Antrim Main St., Duncan Township, 12 months' probation for simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment for an incident in Duncan Township on Dec. 28, 2010.
Molly A. White, 41, of 175 First St., Westfield, 18 months' probation for burglary at 253 E. Main St., Westfield, and terroristic threats for an incident that occurred on Jan. 12.
Brian M. Harris, 29, of Kermit, Texas, 12 months' probation for drunken driving in Putnam Township on Sept. 20, 2010.
Darron M. Giles, 25, of 332 Ruah St., Blossburg, nine months' probation for driving under the influence on Route 15 in Richmond Township on Nov. 20, 2010.
Daniel A. Horner, 51, of 50 Apache Lane, Tioga, 12 months' probation for driving under the influence in Tioga Township on Jan. 22.
