Rob Glunk, vice president of branch administration for Jersey Shore State Bank, recently announced that the bank and its employees are collecting personal items for veterans at the Altoona VA Medical Center and the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. The collection will take place until July 1 in every Jersey Shore State Bank branch.
"It's important to remember how the men and women of the armed forces have sacrificed for our country," Glunk said, according to a news release. "This is a small thing we can do to support our Veterans."
For the last several years bank employees have personally donated items to the Altoona VA Hospital and Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, this year, according to Glunk, "we decided to open it up to the public to try and collect more items that will make our veterans stay at the facilities a little nicer."
According to Marilyn Neyhart, who coordinates the collection for the bank and the Sons of American Legion Post 36, the needed items include toiletries like toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo as well as undergarments such as socks and t-shirts. One item the group really likes to receive is ball caps. A complete list of needed items is available at each Jersey Shore State Bank branch or on the bank's website www.jssb.com.
