A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon when his cycle and pickup truck collided on Route 87, just north of Montoursville, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.
Donald G. Porter, 66, of 1850 Bloomingrove Road, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Geisinger Medical Center (Danville) physician who was riding on a medical helicopter that was dispatched to the crash, which occurred about 12:40 p.m., Kiessling said.
Porter was traveling south when a northbound pickup truck suddenly turned in front of him in the southbound lane, Kiessling said he was told.
State police investigated the crash, but no news release had been prepared by Tuesday night. The identity of the truck driver was not known.
The driver seriously injured in Monday's one-car crash on Route 15 in Clinton Township was only being identified by state police as a 48-year-old Frederick, Md., woman.
Because police are withholding her identity, it was not possible to get a current report on her medical condition from Geisinger on Tuesday night.
In another crash, Dakota J. Barton, 21, of Williamsport, was treated at Geisinger for injuries he suffered when the Dodge Caravan he was riding in and a truck tractor collided on Interstate 80 in Montour County's Liberty Township about 5 a.m. Tuesday, state police said.
The truck driver fled the scene after making a U-turn, police said.
The driver of the van was a 17-year-old girl. Two other passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old female, also were taken to Geisinger for treatment of moderate injuries.
Erin Skeans, 27, of Turbotville, remained in critical condition at Geisinger with injuries she suffered in last Friday's two-vehicle head-on collision on Route 44 near Turbotville.
The other driver, Kristy McNett, 34, of Watsontown, remained in stable condition, a nursing supervisor said Tuesday night.
