Students get ready for 'Hairspray' debut

The Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., and the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., will present the 2011 ACT?UP!?production of "Hairspray" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the CAC.?Director Jacquie Engel said that CTL?chose to do "Hairspray" because the first two ACT?UP!?productions were large-scale dance shows that the kids love. "It's exciting to do these hardcore dances," Engel said. "This show has more dance than any show I've done in my life. Every single song is choreographed." Katerina Bergerstock, who will perform as Tracy Turnblad, said that rehearsals for the show are going great. "Everyone in the cast works well together and works really hard to make it a great production." Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
