Teen charged in Edwin Street armed robbery

July 30, 2011
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

A 16-year-old girl was arrested Friday and charged as an adult for her alleged involvement in the armed robbery of a woman in the 700 block of West Edwin Street during the early morning hours of July 22, city police said.

Just three days after her alleged co-conspirator Tyree Green was held for court on all charges, Dachaun A. Turner was brought before District Judge Allen P. Page III and arraigned on charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

Investigators allege she set up the victim, Jennifer Michael, by stopping her on the street about 4 a.m. and telling her, "I need to talk to you."

With Turner was Green, 19, of 643 Locust St., who suddenly pulled out a handgun, put it in Michael's face and demanded her money, police said.

Green then put the gun to the back of Michael's head and started counting backwards, police said. Michael pulled out a $100 bill and dropped her purse.

Turner picked up the purse and ran with it as Green bolted from the scene with the $100 bill, police said.

Green and Turner were nabbed within minutes and the two both were identified by Michael as the ones who allegedly robbed her. Turner was detained that morning, but no details were released concerning where.

Green was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $150,000. Turner joined him there Friday after she was unable to post $75,000 bail.
