The Williamsport Area Management Association presented William Notevarp, a senior at Jersey Shore Area High School, who has since graduated, with a $1,000 scholarship at the group's annual May picnic at Indian Park in Montoursville.
The 7-member Scholarship Committee met in April to review applications, in which five school districts participated with each student presenting an essay, two reference letters, along with their grades and SAT scores. Each applicant's background was full of accomplishments in extracurricular memberships, music, sports, employment and excellent academic achievements. Notevarp has been accepted and will be attending Bloomsburg University in the fall of 2011 to earn a degree in accounting and finance. The student also introduced his mother, Anne Hosterman and grandmother, Barbara Hosterman, who also attended the picnic with the recipient. His essay was printed in the May edition of "Supervision," which is a monthly newsletter printed for the members of the Association and distributed via e-mail.
The association also held a 2011 Spring Raffle drawing. Top winning ticket seller was Steve Renninger, who sold 146; second and third were tied - Keith Boyles and Dennis Fluck, each with 100 tickets each. At the meeting, Steve Renninger, past president, installed the 2011-12 officers, except for incoming President Mary Lilla-Hunsinger, who was unable to attend. Installed were Debbie Walls, first vice president; Charmaine Carey, second vice president; and Angle Porter, third vice president. Mary Lllla Hunsinger would be installed at the June executive board meeting. Also at the meeting, Keith Boyles, past president, presented a 2010-11 President's plaque to outgoing President Lenora Georges. He also presented Angie Porter with the 2010-11 Member of the Year plaque.
