Mr. and Mrs. Dan Brown, Montoursville, observed their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 19, 2011.
They were married by Father Hallaburta at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mifflintown. They are members of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Mrs. Brown, a native of Wilkes-Barre, is the daughter of the late Mary and Donald Waples. She graduated from St. Basil School, Dushore, in 1959 and retired in 1995 from Sovereign Bank, where she was employed as a customer service representative from 1981 to 1995.

Mr. Brown, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Beulah and Hermon Brown. He graduated from Sullivan Highlands High School in 1958. He received a bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg University in 1964, where he also received a master's degree in 1973. He retired in 1995 from Muncy School District, where he was employed as a business administrator from 1977 to 1995. He also was employed as a business teacher by Massena School District from 1964 to 1977.
They are the parents of a daughter, Mary White, New Brighton. There are two grandsons and one granddaughter.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration, hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, was held Aug. 6 at the Inn at Turkey Hill, Bloomsburg.
