Amy Louise Anderson and Steven Fraser Hipple, both of Chevy Chase, Md., were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011.

Robert Whitney Anderson officiated at the ceremony held in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

The bride is the daughter of Ambassador Norman and Mary Anderson, Chevy Chase. She graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., in 1989. She received a bachelor's degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., in 1993 and a doctorate in nutrition from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md., in 2008. She is employed by the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Maryland, as a research associate.

Hipple is the son of the late Dr. Randall and Janet Hipple, formerly of Williamsport. He graduated from the Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, N.J., in 1982. He received a bachelor's degree in economics and psychology in 1989 and a master's degree in economics in 1992, both from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. He is employed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Washington, D.C., as an economist. He also served in the Army from 1982 to 1984.

Maid of honor was Emily Anderson, Santa Rosa, Calif., niece of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Sonda Anderson, Santa Rosa, and Cathy Ross, New York City, both sisters-in-law of the bride.

Flower girl was Lauren Anderson, Santa Rosa, niece of the bride.

Ring bearer was Max Anderson, New York City, nephew of the bride, and Lauren Anderson, Santa Rosa, niece of the bride.

Best man was Dr. Ian Anderson, Santa Rosa, brother of the bride.

Usher was Eric Anderson, New York City, nephew of the bride.

Following a trip to Point Reyes, Calif., the couple is residing in Chevy Chase.
