Locally made laundry soap, woven rugs, aprons for little girls, photographs, handmade silk scarves, pottery, paintings, books, clothes and a variety of other items fill the two other rooms of the shop.
Some of the books and clothes are consignment items.
Consignment refers to someone giving the items to Port Penn Peddler, but still retaining ownership of the items until it is sold, and then receives money for it.
"I always wanted to own a consignment shop," Craver said. "I took a job at an upscale consignment shop for women and children's clothing."
Items marked 'DON' are donated items. Sixty percent of the purchased price proceeds evenly go to ALS Association, Humane Society and Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy.
People interested in donating items or consigning items can ask about it. Not everything is taken however. Clothes are name brands, such as Guess and Banana Republic.
"We're trying to be more selective of it," Schmitt said. "Items have to be gently used or new."
The art comes from various artists, both local and regional.
"We want to get as many local artist as possible," Schmitt said. "We don't want to be strictly local, but we want to encourage the locals."
Most of the art reflects nature, landscapes and animals.
The shop already has hosted a grand opening and Tai Chi in the glade. Schmitt and Craver want to offer more events in the future.
Upcoming events include a New York City Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 9. where they will display New York City bags. From 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 8, they will host a Miche Trunk Show, where all of the available shells will be on display. From 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12, the shop will host a galley with wine and cheese.
Schmitt calls the shop "everyday eclectica."
"We have a choice of items for gifts," she said. "We have unique items. You will use your pocketbook. This is not a splurge. The jewelry is handmade and really affordable."
