Mr. and Mrs. William J. Matalavage, Williamsport, observed their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 9, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. Francis Dinkle at St. Peter Catholic Church, Mount Carmel. They are members of St. Joseph the Worker, Mater Dolorosa Church.
Mrs. Matalavage, the former Joanne Mary Fracalossi, is a native of Mount Carmel. She is the daughter of the late John L. Fracalossi. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1956 and Ashland State Hospital, School of Nursing, Ashland, in 1959. She is employed by Manor Care North Nursing and Rehabilitation as a registered nurse.

Mr. Matalavage, a native of Mahanoy City, is the son of Mary Matalavage, Mahanoy City, and the late William Matalavage Sr. He graduated from Mahanoy City Area High School in 1954 and served in the Navy from 1954 to 1958. He retired from the Williamsport Post Office, where he was employed as a carrier.
They are the parents of three sons, William M., Milton, Del., James J., Manchester, Md., and Thomas, and a daughter, Lynn M. Shields, Orlando, Fla. There are nine grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration, hosted by their children, was held at DiSalvo's.
