A new barber shop caters to the entire family in Montoursville.
Savoir Haire, 999 N. Loyalsock Ave., Lower Level Suite 5, opened at the end of June to provide a variety of services to women, men and children.
Kyra Mussina, owner, wanted to open her own salon after working at other salons, where she noticed ways to improve.

Savoir Haire is located near Walmart in Montoursville.
"I wanted to be able to do things on my own," she said. "And I wanted to do it the right way."
Mussina wanted a place where the whole family could receive a haircut at the same time or children can play in the Kid's Korner while a parent receives a styling.
"We're family oriented," she said. "We really like to emphasize that. We want mom, dad and kids. Everyone. We want all ages to come."

The shop cut many kids' hair, especially during the back-to-school season.
Mussina has been interested in cutting hair since childhood.
"Ever since I was little and I played with Barbie dolls," she said. "It made me want to do hair."
Since Savoir Haire is near WalMart and Subway, Mussina said they receive a lot of walk-in traffic, which they welcome.
One way that Mussina wants to separate her shop from other salons is by growing steadily, not rapidly.
"I could get more hair stations or more manicure stations, but I don't want to get big and the service lessens," she said. "I want service high, prices low. Some people try to get too big too fast and the service suffers."
Along with haircuts for women, men and children, Savoir Haire also offers color services, perms, conditioning, waxing, facials and manicures and pedicures.
"We're a big city service, with a small town price," Mussina said.
Mussina said parties also are available for brides and for children.
Julie Lukens, salon manager, said girls as young as five like receiving pedicures and girls as young as three like having their nails painted.
"They like the chalkboard (in the Kid's Korner)," Mussina said. "They love getting their nails painted. Girls like to get pampered. Mom and kids can get it all done at the same time."
Mussina tracks the latest styles by attending hair shows in Hershey and Philadelphia, as well as reading hair styling magazines. She said a new fashion trend is lighter hair with flat irons. She said women add feathers and tinsel to their hair.
Savoir Haire is open Monday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit savoirhaire.com or the Facebook page.
