A night of Barbershop at the Community Theatre

The West Branch and Heart of Pennsylvania choruses, local men and women's barbershop groups, will entertain with a variety of music, jokes and stories at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Community Theater League, 100 W. Third St.

The West Branch Chorus, based in Lewisburg, is under the direction of Matt Poremsky, assisted by Kevin Zimmerman. The group will sing fan favorites such as "Bye Bye Love," "I'll Fly Away," "Put on a Happy Face" and "The Music Man Medley." Three men's quartets also will be entertaining. Master of Ceremonies for the men's group will be Dale Thomas.

The female group, the Heart of Pennsylvania Chorus, is under the direction of Dee Casteel and will entertain with such songs as "You Made Me Love You," "One Fine Day," "I Don't Wanna Walk Without You" and others. Two women's quartets, Generation Gap and Heart's Desire, also will perform and Bev Staman will emcee.

The two choruses will combine to sing a couple numbers, including the ever-popular "Keep the Whole World Singing."

Barbershop music is a staple in the CTL concert line-up. The West Branch Chorus has been making a stop at the Community Theatre each year for nearly a decade. Tickets are two for $25 or $15 for adults and $8 for students and may be bought online at or by calling 327-1777, weekdays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
