Halloween is just around the corner, and as children and adults alike prepare their Halloween costumes for trick-or-treat, parades and parties, there also are many other fall and holiday activities to scare and entertain local residents this season.
The Downtown Business Association will host its annual Halloween Parade of Costumes on Oct. 28, starting at 6 p.m., marching down Pine Street to Fourth Street and will end at Woodlands Bank parking lot.
Any group, organization, individual or even behaved pets are welcome to join the costume parade, which will be followed by trick-or-treating at downtown businesses.

With Halloween falling on a Monday this year, most area communities plan to hold trick-or-treat on Halloween evening.
The following communities will hold trick-or-treat on Monday, Oct. 31:
6 to 8 p.m. - Williamsport, South Williamsport, Loyalsock Township, Old Lycoming Township, Montoursville, Montgomery, DuBoistown, Woodward Township, Jersey Shore, Hughesville, Muncy, Picture Rocks in Lycoming County; Blossburg, Tioga, Covington, Salladasburg in Tioga County; Beech Creek, Castanea, Lamar Township, Lock Haven, Mill Hall, Flemington, Howard in Clinton County.
6 to 7 p.m. - Elkland Borough, Tioga County.
6 to 7:30 p.m. - Westfield Borough and Westfield Township, Tioga County.
5:30 to 7 p.m. - Knoxville Borough, Tioga County
5 to 7 p.m. - Mansfield and Sabinsville, Tioga County.
And on Saturday, Oct. 29:
6 to 8 p.m. - Wellsboro, Tioga County.
In addition to traditional trick-or-treating activities, the area will hold a variety of fall related festivals and haunted attractions for all to enjoy. Following is a calendar of events leading up to Halloween:

Friday Fall Flashlight Tours at Penns Cave, 6 p.m., 222 Penns Cave Road, Centre Hall. This tour will include a ride out onto Lake Nittanee. Attendees are encouraged to bring their flashlights to shine a different perspective on the cave formations.
Ghosts and Goblins at Lincoln Caverns, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7703 William Penn Highway, Huntingdon. A one hour family tour through two beautiful crystal caverns, one haunted and one natural and a haunted trail.

Little League Museum Monster Mash Baseball Bash, 6 to 8 p.m., 525 Route 15, South Williamsport. A Halloween event hosted by the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum in conjunction with Lycoming College's Alpha Xi Delta women's fraternity and Autism Speaks. Activities include games, crafts, costume contest, kid-friendly haunted house, snacks and more.
Lantern Tours with the Northumberland County Historical Society, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Fort Augusta museum, Sunbury. Period-dressed tour guides will provide information on a tour of the well, powder magazine and Hunter-Grant Cemetery.
Historic Spruce Street Cemetery Tour, 6 to 9 p.m., Spruce Street Cemetery, Sunbury.
Linn BCWA Fall Family Festivities Day, 3 p.m., Ard's Farm, 4803 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg. Traditional central Pa. fall activities including a corn maze, hayrides, bonfire and a deluxe hot dog picnic.

Oktoberfest, 4:30 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main Street, Jersey Shore. The event is held in support of the mission work in Germany of Sue Hoxie serving through the Greater European Mission. There will be various German foods and a live German band and displays.
Pine Run United Methodist Church's harvest Party, 6 to 9 p.m., 1719 Pine Run Road, Linden. Activities include a tractor-pulled hayride through the scenic area surrounding the church, trunk-or-treat for children, live music by Leaving Ordinary, a pumpkin patch and snacks.
Haunted hayrides, 7:30 p.m., Little March Fire Hall.
Howard Volunteer Fire Co. Fall Festival, 10 a.m., Bald Eagle State Park. Food, craft vendors, live bands, a pie eating contest, hayrides and a boat ride. There will be a Punkin Chunkin demonstration and a trebuchet will catapult pumpkins nearly 1600 feet towards floating targets in the park lake.
Terror at Bowman Haunted Ballpark, 6 to 10 p.m., Historic Bowman Field, 1700 W. Fourth St.
Monday
Lycoming Mall Safe Trick-or-Treat, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Lycoming Mall. Area children are invited to put on their costumes and walk with their parents from store to store. Participating mall merchants will hand out treats and a Subway Halloween costume contest will begin at 7 p.m. in Center Court.
Ghosts and Hauntings: Decide for Yourself, 7 p.m., Trout Auditorium at Bucknell University, Lewisburg. Parapsychologist, Rich Robbins, will introduce theories of what ghosts and other related phenomena are, offer a discussion of evidence for and against the existence of ghosts, and provide an introduction to ghost hunting.
Wednesday
Fall Fun Bash, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Radiant Light Assembly of God, 9565 Route 442, Muncy. Candy, games, prizes and trick-or-treating.
Trick-or-Treat Night at the Village at Penn College, 6 to 8 p.m., Penn College students will have treats and games for children ages 12 and under. RSVP to Alumni Relations by Oct. 21.

Actor Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster from the Munsters television series will be in the lobby of City Hall from 5 to 8 p.m. and treats will be given out and a prize will be awarded to the best Eddie Munster Look-a-like. Patrick will conduct a presentation on the Munster television series and will discuss diabetes and cancer awareness issues in the Sechler Room, City Hall second floor from 8 to 9 p.m.
