A local staffing company will change hands after more than 50 years in business.
DPSS, LLC, an affiliate of Nesco Resource, announced Thursday it has acquired DePasquale Staffing Services, 454 Pine St., Suite 1A.
Peter DePasquale, founder of DePasquale Staffing, said he and former president Ro DePasquale looked for a company that would keep the name and the services.
"We're aging and moving along in years, it's time to turn over leadership, so we made it known to selected organizations."
A company Peter previously worked with brought him to Williamsport, where he met and married Ro. He started the staffing service center 1969 as a permanent placement center. Ro became a full-time placement consultant.
"I placed a lot of people over the years," she said.
In 1983, the company branched into temporary hires also.
Peter said they continued to provide both permanent and temporary hires throughout the years and he often he hears about someone they placed in a position who rose to a leadership position.
DePasquale Staffing Services has a long-standing staff with an average of 15 years, Ro said. With DPSS taking over, there will be no change in staff.
Sheryl Osborn, manager of the staffing services, will continue as manager.
"The reason Nesco was interested (in acquiring the company) is the reputation of Peter and Ro built," Osborn said. "They didn't find it necessary to start a new company. They wanted to continue what Peter and Ro did."
Peter will continue to affiliate with the company.
"My relationship will be to just remain active in the community as we do and represent them as we do," he said. "I'm very pleased with the organization. I'm delighted they purchased the company."
One reason DPSS was interested in acquiring the staffing services is because of the jobs the gas industry brings.
Peter said he had some business come from the gas industry, but mostly in the form of growth in other areas related to the industry.
Since Nesco Resource is a national company, it will provide more opportunities for people looking for jobs.
"They'll have records nationally," Osborn said. "We can more easily represent candidates who don't want to be in Williamsport or who want to come here, but we hope it's more of the second one."
Nesco Resource is currently ranked 52nd overall in the Staffing Industry Analysts 2011 rankings of the Top USA Temporary Staffing firms, and holds a 16th national market position within the Engineering staffing niche. The acquisition of DePasquale Staffing Services is the fourth such transaction completed in 2011 by Nesco Resource.
Nesco Resource was founded in 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio as an engineering and design firm. Nesco Resource now is a recognized industry leader that provides a full range of human capital solutions within the engineering and information technologies, clerical and light industrial, accounting and finance sectors. Additionally, Nesco offers specialty services including in-house design and drafting, vendor management solutions, and on-site operations.
As Peter searched for a company to acquire his, he had two concerns on his mind.
"The principle in the search was to be better than we are and someone who would continue to do what do."
