Mr. and Mrs. John C. Bower Jr. observed their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 4, 2011.
They were married at St. John Evangelical Church, now St. John United Methodist Church, where they are members.
Mrs. Bower, the former Shirley Whidden, is the daughter of the late Carrie and Frank Whidden. She graduated from Montgomery High School. She is retired.

Mr. Bower is the son of the late John C. Bower Sr. and Mabel Bower. He served in the Navy for four years and is a retired farmer.
They are the parents of three sons, Dave, Denny and Dan. There are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, an open house will be held today at their church.
