Williamsport Sun-Gazette

PENNSDALE - Entries are being accepted now through Friday for the Festival of Trees fundraiser competition held each year in the Lycoming Mall.

Individuals, businesses, civic groups and churches are invited to participate and sponsor a tree.

"There is room for 50 decorated trees. Every year businesses donate the ornaments and the prizes such as furniture, toys, vacations, electronics, clothing and jewelry," said Anthony Perrotta, community relations and development manager for the Salvation Army.

On Nov. 20, the trees are decorated by the entrants with decorations and gifts. For three weeks, the general public will have the opportunity to see the tree display in the Lycoming Mall and vote on their favorite tree.

On Dec. 9, the trees, including all ornaments and gifts, are sold at the live auction event held inside the Lycoming Mall.

The public is encouraged to attend and bid on their favorite tree.

The highest bidder will take home the tree, the ornaments and the gifts valued at no less than $100.

All proceeds benefit The Salvation Army.

Entry applications will be accepted until Friday.

For more information, call Perrotta at 326-9187.
