Kylene Smith and Peter DeFrate, formerly of Howard, were united in marriage Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011.
The private ceremony took place at Children's Harbor Chapel, Alexander City, Ala.
Smith is the daughter of Angela Donnelly and David Jones. She is employed by Youth Villages Inc. as a family therapist.

DeFrate is the son of Dr. and Mrs. L. Arthur DeFrate. He is a former Marine and is employed by the state of Alabama as an information technology specialist.
The couple celebrated on Oct. 1 with their family following a trip to Mexico.
