TOWANDA - John J. DeSisti, 74, of Waverly, N.Y., will go to trial for the deaths of a prominent attorney and his wife five years ago on Feb. 6, Bradford County Court administrator Mary Lou Vanderpool said Monday.
The trial will begin at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom No. 2, before Commonwealth Court Judge Maureen T. Beirne.
DeSisti is charged with two counts of murder and one count of burglary in connection with the Nov. 17, 2006, shotgun slayings of David and Carol Keeffe in their Athens Township home. He is incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas in Luzerne County, without bail.
DeSisti is being represented by Attorney Arthur T. Donato Jr., of Media.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Patrick J. Blessington is prosecuting the case and will seek the death penalty against DeSisti, who authorities allege killed the Keeffes as a result of a long-standing property dispute.
Carol Keeffe was the defendant's first cousin.
