WELLSBORO - Jesse D. Spurgeon, 34, of 1292 Dutch Hill Road, Wellsboro, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
According to documents filed with Wellsboro District Court, he choked and slapped his wife Annette until she nearly lost consciousness during a domestic dispute at the residence Dec. 9.
He also allegedly pointed a shotgun and a handgun at his wife and fired the shotgun several times through the ceiling and floor, police said.
After his wife called her mother, the two women were able to talk him into putting the guns down and exiting the residence, where he was taken into custody.
He was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail and his preliminary hearing set for Dec. 20.
