Mr. and Mrs. Carl. J. Mayer observed their 55th wedding anniversary Dec. 26, 2011.
They were married by the Rev. Lavender in Nottingham, England.
Doreen Mayer, a native of England, is a homemaker.

Mr. Mayer graduated from Williamsport High School and served in the Air Force, stationed in England. He was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel, now Wirerope Works Inc.
They are the parents of four daughters, Tina Frey and Lori Burger, both of Williamsport, Tammy Holland, Hesparia, Calif., and Carlene Mayer, Gettysburg.
In honor of their anniverary, a family dinner is being planned.
