New Year’s Roundup

Williamsport never fails in the area of nightly entertainment, especially with the upcoming celebration of the New Year. There is an array of different things happening and anyone will be able to find something to do on one of the most celebrated nights.

While everyone has their own traditions, the following Williamsport area locations will offer entertainment for New Year's Eve.

Old Lycoming Township

Roy G. Blues will perform on New Year’s Eve at the Mill Tavern, 319 Broad St., Montoursville.

For the fourth year in a row, the Old Lycoming Recreational Board will host a New Year's Eve Party for patrons 21 and older. The event is "Bring Your Own Bottle" and will include a dinner buffet provided by the Country Store, Pennsdale.

"This event is a great alternative to going to the bar and spending tons of money. You can get your own group of friends together, meet new people and dance," Rachelle Ricotta, committee member, said. "There's a mix of people that we have had come out."

The all-you-can-eat buffet will include three different entrees and dessert.

The music for the night will be provided by DJ Monster Sounds and partygoers may enjoy karaoke through the night. Although the event is centered around partying, it also is for a good cause.

"One of the unique things is that we are partnering with a Relay for Life team," Ricotta said. "This event will raise money for the team."

Throughout the night, there will be 50/50 drawings, raffles and lots of door prizes.

"We've got some really great stuff," Ricotta said. "There are lots of gift certificates and big prizes too," Ricotta said.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are $25 and includes dinner, dessert, midnight buffet of hot dogs and sauerkraut, and sodas. For tickets, stop by the Old Lycoming Township building, 1951 Green Ave.

Tommy Sport's Bar

Tommy's Sport's Bar, 308 N. Main St., Montoursville, will host South Alley Station, a band that plays covers and originals, on New Year's Eve. On its Facebook page, South Alley Station describes itself as "a heavy- hitting drummer, a stylish straight rock guitarist, a metal riff machine guitarist, a more manly Brad Pitt bassist, a wild crazy strong male vocal and a soaring angelic hot chick vocalist."

Cell Block

The Cell Block, 154 W. Third St., will offer a celebration that includes a $1,000 money drop and DJ Ikon. For its 11th annual New Year's celebration, they also will have Star 69 on stage in the gallows.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information, call 322-1728.

J Bar, James Restaurant

For this New Year's Eve, The J Bar and James Restaurant, located in the Holiday Inn, 100 Pine St., will offer two party packages to choose from. Both packages include appetizers, gourmet dinner and music.

Dinner will feature a chef's carving table with roasted beef tenderloin with Chianti demi-glaze and roasted turkey breast with a marsala-cranberry sauce with all the accompaniments.

There also will be a pasta station, sushi and raw bar and Italian desserts.

In addition to the dinner, there also will be a champagne toast and midnight buffet along with music and dancing.

The second package also includes an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn and hot breakfast in the morning along with the dinner and party.

The party will start at 7:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 8:30 p.m. The party package is $50 per person, $100 per couple. The party package, including the overnight stay, is $189. For more information, call 327-8231.

Bullfrog Brewery

The Bullfrog Brewery, 229 W. Fourth St., will have a free show featuring Williamsport's own Clouds Make Sounds. Described as "Jeff Buckley meets Fiona Apple," the band was created in January 2010, and has been playing shows around the Williamsport area.

Members Josh Hines, Deron Johnson, Joe Marchese, Jeff Mach and Shannon Cantor will perform a great show at the Bullfrog with their indie-folk infused music.

Club Z

Club Z will have a New Year's Eve party featuring Scarlet Feva, Makayla Summers, Diamond and Dominia Dupre and St. James.

The club, located at 321 Pine St., features large high-definition televisions and state-of-the-art lighting on the club's dance floor. As the largest dance floor in Central Pennsylvania, Club Z will offer a midnight buffet and their resident DJ, DJ Phreak.

4th Street Grille

at Genetti Hotel

The Historic Genetti Hotel and Suites, 200 W. Fourth St., will have its "New Year's Eve Extravaganza" at the 4th Street Grille beginning at 9 p.m. Music will be provided by Jam Productions. There will be drink specials, including 20 different beers on tap.

The $10 cover charge will include their traditional midnight buffet, a champagne toast at midnight and party favors.

Rumrunner's Pub and Eatery

Mal Scoppa and the Tall Tales will perform at Rumrunner's Pub and Eatery, 341 Market St.

According to the group's Facebook page, "Mallory Scoppa is native to central Pennsylvania, where she has spent the last few years living and writing. Her music reflects daily struggles and adventures in love. She has been performing since childhood."

The band features Mallory Scoppa on lead vocals, acoustic guitar and mandolin; John Shively on vocals, electric guitar, violin, ukulele and mandolin; Jimmy Lovcik on bass and Jim Dougherty on drums.

Mill Tavern

Roy G. Blues will perform on New Year's Eve at the Mill Tavern, 319 Broad St., Montoursville.

The band consists of David Mark on guitars; DJ May on vocals and harmonica; Tim Reinhard on bass and Mark Peterson on percussion.
