JERSEY SHORE - Borough council re-elected Marguerite Dyroff as president and elected Kenneth Scheesley as vice president during its annual reorganization meeting Monday night.

Dyroff, who has been on council eight years, said council will face the challenge of providing services while working within a tight budget.

She said she looks forward to helping beautify the community, provide a boat launch along the Susquehanna River and improve the riverbank.

"Whatever we can accomplish, we will," she said.

The vote to re-elect Dyroff was 7-0 with the following council members casting yes votes: John Pisarcik, Wade Snyder, Deborah Colocino, Mary Greene, Janet Barnhart, Sean Simcox and Scheesley.

Mayor Dennis Buttorff swore in Scheesley, Barnhart, Simcox and Dyroff to their new terms as council members.

In other matters, council reappointed Bruce Wayne McKean to a second five-year term on the planning commission.

McKean subsequently was sworn into office by Buttorff.

Ken McCracken was reappointed to a second three-year term to the zoning hearing board.

"We appreciate everyone who serves and we wish more people would get involved," Dyroff said.

It was noted that council will hold its regular meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

The borough's new ice skating rink is set to open the end of this week, weather permitting.

The rink, donated to the borough by CGG Veritas, is in Jersey Shore's recreation area.
