Announcement has been made of the engagement of Kerry Lynn Smathers, LaPlata, Md., and Kurt Thomas Whitmoyer, King George, Va.
A July 27 wedding at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Colonial Beach, Va., is being planned.
Smathers is the daughter of Carrie E. Smathers and William J. Smathers, Clarion. She graduated from Clarion Area High School in 1996 and received a degree in elementary education and early childhood education from Clarion University in 2001. She is employed by Indian Head Elementary School, Charles County Public Schools, Md., as a kindergarten teacher.

KURT T. WHITMOYER
Whitmoyer is the son of Kathy L. Goditus, Montoursville, and the late Jerome Goditus and Garry D. Whitmoyer and Gloria Whitmoyer, both of Muncy. He graduated from Montoursville Area High School in 1997 and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Bloomsburg University in 2002. He is employed by Potomac Elementary School, King George County, Virginia, as a second-grade teacher.
