2 attempted abductions have police on lookout

January 7, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

State police are investigating an attempted child abduction of a 12-year-old in Loyalsock Township between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the second one that has been reported this week in Lycoming County.

Police said the youth was walking home from a school event at the Loyalsock Middle/High School when a white male in his 30s pulled in front of the school in an older-model white four-door Ford Explorer with tinted windows.

The driver verbally attempted to get the child into his vehicle, but fled west on Loyalsock Drive towards Northway Road after the youth started to dial 911, according to police.

The child described the suspect to police as having brown curly hair, scruffy facial hair, red bags under his eyes, a thin build and a deep voice.

State police said they are not aware of any connection between this attempt and the attempt in Limestone Township on Tuesday, but are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information about the abductions should contact state police at 570-368-5700.
