MILLMONT - One woman is dead and two others are in critical condition following a vehicle crash in Union County around 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
Allison Renee Vonneida, 21, of Harleton, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by Union County Coroner Wanda Walters, according to state police.
Christopher Adam Wirth, 21, of Harleton, was driving at a high rate of speed in a 1999 Mercury Cougar south on Route 235 in Hartley Township when he failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the vehicle, police said.
The vehicle slid through the opposing lane and crashed into several trees. Vonneida and Wirth were both thrown from the vehicle, while Dediree Elizabeth Cronin, 21, of Hartleton, remained inside, according to police.
Wirth and Cronin suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash and were transported by Life Flight to the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Wirth and Cronin were both reported in critical condition on Saturday evening. The crash remains under investigation by state police.
