I am not from Lycoming County, but since I've worked in the EMS system there for 13 years I feel I must give my two cents with the problem of not using the closest ALS unit availabe that is going on there now.
Where I live the closest ALS unit is 28 miles away. I would think that the people of Lycoming county that have units within 5 minutes of their area would be greatful and use them rather than use a unit 15 to 20 minutes away. I feel that it's a shame this goes on because of a pissing match between Fire Companies or because of personal issues. People that live in the area I do would give their right arm to have the caliper of medics as close as you people do.
To the people of Lycoming County, you need to stand up and fight for your right to the best possible care available. You have some of the best if not the best Paramedics in the state in that area and it's a shame they are not being use properly. It may mean making changes at your local goverment level but you need to do what it takes before lives are lost due to pissing matches and that is sad.
