Ecumenical luncheon

United Churches Wednesday noon ecumenical lunches are held each week of the school year at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St. This Wednesday (Jan. 25), The Rev. Dr. John Piper, a retired United Methodist Pastor and dean emeritus of Lycoming College, and the Rev. Dr. John Charnock, the supervisor of Spiritual Care at Susquehanna Care, will be the speakers. They will help us to observe the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The program will conclude the week with a discussion about "The Church of the Bible and the Church of the World" A serving of a catered $6 lunch begins at 11:45 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Free parking is available in the lot north of the church. Although reservations are not needed, those not regular attendees should call United Churches at 322-1110 to help the caterer know how many to prepare for.

Devotion line

The United Churches telephone devotion line is available 24 hours a day by calling 322-5762. The devotionalist next week will be The Rev. Ken Wagner-Pizza. Pastor Ken is rector at Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St.
