Expectant parents can tour OB?unit

WELLSBORO - Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital will hold a free Expectant Parents class titled "Labor and Delivery" with a featured tour of the OB Unit from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the board room.

The class is part of a cycle of six classes designed to address common questions and concerns of expectant parents. Participants may participate at any time during the cycle. Walk-ins welcomed.

Free bereavement group to meet

WELLSBORO - Laurel Home Health amd Hospice is holding a free support group for the bereaved of the community from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.

The instructor is social worker Sherry Bodine. The ongoing support group meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

Snowflake Dinner Dance nears

Tickets are available for the Divine Providence Hospital Auxiliary's Snowflake Dinner Dance, which will be held Saturday in the hospital auditorium. The cost is $30 per person.

The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres, followed by dinner at 6:30 and dancing at 7:30. Music will be provided by Brad Gibson. A basket raffle and Chinese auction also will be held.

Tickets may be obtained at the gift shops at Divine Providence or Muncy Valley hospitals and Williamsport Regional Medical Center or by calling 220-2388.

Children's health fair planned

SELINSGROVE - Evangelical Community Hospital will hold the 23rd snnual Children's Health Fair at the Susquehanna Valley Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The fair will feature activities including demonstrations by Downtown Dance, Kingdom Kidz Puppet shows, Story Time with Drew and Ali from 94.1 WQKX and a Kids Can Cook Demo presented by Weis Markets. Children also can bring a stuffed animal or doll for a check-up.

Parents can earn a $5 gift card for returning a child safety seat that has either been recalled, is more than six years old, has been involved in an accident, is broken or has missing parts.

Language and speech screenings for children ages 3 to 4 will be conducted by CSIU. Vision screenings will be carried out by Central Susquehanna Sight Services.

IBS topic of lecture

Dr. Gregory Pais, who is board certified in homeopathy by the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians, will lead a one-hour lecture on "Healing From Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Natural Approach for Success" at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Solley Chiropractic, 580 E. Third St.

Cancer seminars scheduled

BLOOMSBURG - Geisinger will hold three educational cancer seminars on Jan. 31. The 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. seminars will be held at the Bloomsburg YMCA, 30 E. Seventh St.

Community nurse navigator Cheryl Blewett, of Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, will present each session and discuss personal risk and lifestyle factors, prevention, screening, genetic counseling options and treatment options.

Beverly Tenenholz, genetics counselor at GMC, will offer free genetic assessments to attendees, which allow them to estimate their personal cancer risk.

The event is presented by Geisinger and the NCI Community Cancer Centers Program to enhance the level of patient support services provided in local communities.

Evangelical holds CPR, first aid classes

LEWISBURG - Evangelical Community Hospital will offer the following CPR and first aid classes in February:

First Aid with Adult, Child and Infant CPR with AED - 8:30-12:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Community Health Education Center, Route 15. Designed to teach workplace responders, school staff, professional responders, healthcare providers and the general public how to use an automated external defibrillator to perform CPR on adults, children and infants.

Healthcare Provider Renewal CPR Class -8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Community Health Education Center.
