As the intoxicated man charged toward Pennsylvania College of Technology Patrolman William B. MacInnis, the officer had no choice but to deploy his Taser gun, striking the man in the chest with electrodes fired from the weapon, police said.
It did not even faze the man.
Scott Lamont Watson "ripped out the electrodes, balled them up and stuffed them in his mouth, yelling 'I eat these,' " MacInnis quoted the man as saying in an affidavit.
MacInnis had pursued Watson after the 49-year-old motorist ran a red light at West Third and Campbell streets before pulling over in front of his home at 826 First St. about 5:20 p.m. Jan. 3, police said.
Watson exited the car and began walking toward his front door, refusing MacInnis' orders to get back in his vehicle, police said. Watson walked into his house and slammed the door on the officer. However, MacInnis soon had to draw his Taser as he was confronted by Watson after he opened the door and walked in, police said.
After additional officers arrived on the scene, Watson was taken into custody and processed. He refused to submit to a blood test, police said. Charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and resisting arrest, Watson has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge James G. Carn.
