A woman suffering a "possible overdose" in the 100 block of Pine Street has resulted in drug charges being filed against a Northumberland County man, according to the Pennsylvania College of Technology police.
Patrick Joseph Lenner, 31, of Sunbury, has been charged with possession of heroin, tampering with evidence and drug paraphernalia following the incident that occurred about 1:15 p.m. on Sept 28, police said.
He and Rachael Buehner came to Williamsport that afternoon "to purchase heroin," an officer wrote in an affidavit. Lenner purchased a package of syringes at a local pharmacy that Buehner was going to use to shoot herself with heroin, police said.
Buehner has admitted that after purchasing "two packs of heroin for $10 each, she shot them up in a bathroom at (a) local business," police said in the affidavit.
After the woman got back in the car with Lenner, the two were heading home when she suddenly "blacked out" in the vehicle on Pine Street, police said.
Investigators allege Lenner tried to dispose of the syringes and heroin by tossing them in some bushes, where an officer recovered them while paramedics were treating Buehner.
Lenner was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Allen P. Page III and released on $1,500 bail.
Penn College police handled the investigation because all city police officers were tied up handling other emergency calls.
