WELLSBORO - Whose homemade pie really reigns supreme?
Staff at The Green Home sought to find out with a bake off. As part of an ongoing initiative to increase employee recognition, The Green Home has been implementing monthly fun, educational activities for staff to further enhance the work environment and encourage team building.
January's activities included a pie-baking contest as part of National Pie Day on Jan. 23. Staff from nursing administration, restorative nursing, transport and nursing staff scheduling organized the event.
Staff brought their best, and residents judged each pie for flavor, appearance and originality. After some delicious deliberation, the judging panel declared three winners.
Paula Davis won the flavor category, Gena Manning took home the appearance category and Doris Kimball snagged the originality prize.
The Green Home is a 120-bed nonprofit nursing home providing both short-term rehabilitation services and long-term care services for residents of Tioga County and the surrounding communities.
