GEORGE
Douglas will talk about how to "Fish Like A Guide." He'll show a video, talk about techniques for landing a trophy fish and answer questions.
Douglas started his career on the Salmon River in upstate New York in 1991. He created "Salmon River Success Magazine," which was distributed throughout the Northeast and promoted his guide service, giving him an opportunity to teach anglers the art of salmon, trout and steelhead fishing.
Two years later, Douglas published his first book, "The Complete Guide to the Salmon River," which quickly became the authority for anglers who fish the river.
The book eventually became legendary, as 20 years later, copies were being sold for more than $500 online.
He went on to write six more titles that have contributed greatly to the fishing industry, educating and improving many anglers.
Douglas eventually moved to Washington state to learn about salmon and steelhead runs out of saltwater and to explore the rivers of the West Coast.
In 2008, Douglas started a publication named after the hook jaw of the male trout, salmon and steelhead - "Kype Fishing Magazine." The magazine still is in print, with a digital version available free online.
His passion over the years has included introducing children to fishing, educating anglers of all ages and advocating catch-and-release fishing.
He was inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in 2010, as one of 48 legendary communicators in the sport of freshwater fishing.
Tickets cost $29 and may be purchased by contacting banquet organizers Larry and Sheila Harris at 814-628-2123 or wildbrookies@verizon.net.
Tickets must be paid in advance and checks may be made payable to Tiadaghton Trout Unlimited and mailed to Larry Harris, 316 Jemison Road, Westfield, PA 16950.
