Blanket Drive

March 13, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette
A community event to help children at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center is being organized by two Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School students. From left, Jackie Snyder and Delaney Heller are shown with some of the fabric they have collected for a community blanket drive and blanket-making event they have scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the school. Delaney has a brain tumor and Jackie has leukemia. “These are kids who want to help other kids,” said Heath Heller, Delaney’s father. The event is open to the public and Heath hopes those in attendance will make 300 to 400 blankets for the hospital. Heath said that Delaney organized a teddy bear drive for her birthday and received more than 100 new bears that she gave to the hospital.
