Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:
Federal
The Senate passed the Moving Ahead for Programs in the 21st Century Act. The bill would extend surface transportation programs administered by the Federal Highway Administration, and it would authorize spending for other transportation programs.
U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, voted no. U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Zionsville, voted no.
The House was out of session.
State
The House voted to pass a measure requiring photo identification at polling places.
Voting yes were state Reps. Garth Everett, R-Muncy, and Matthew E. Baker, R-Wellsboro. Voting no was state Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Williamsport.
County
The Lycoming County commissioners agreed to buy nutrient credits on behalf of the West Branch Regional Authority. Commissioners Jeff C. Wheeland, Tony Mussare and Ernie Larson voted in favor of the measure.
The Lycoming County Planning Commission approved land development plans for a natural gas compressor station proposed by Anadarko Marcellus Midstream LLC.
Voting in favor of the measure were George Logue Jr., James Dunn, Cindy Bower, William Parson, Larry Fry and Robert Bauder. Absent were Ann S. Pepperman, Howard Fry and Joseph H. Neyhart.
Municipal
The Old Lycoming supervisors voted unanimously to pay $223,248.57 from accounts payable for various bills, pass an ordinance regarding neighborhood blight, and pass a resolution to the prevailing wage reform act.
Voting where supervisors Janet C. Hall, John W. Eck and Linda Mazzullo.
Jersey Shore Borough Council voted to undergo an energy assessment of the borough with SEDA-Council of Governments. Voting yes were Marguerite Dyroff, Sean Simcox, Janet Barnhart, Wade Snyder, Mary Greene, Kenneth Scheesley and John Pisarcik.
South Williamsport Borough Council voted to accept a land-use plan for a new Steve Shannon Tire and Auto Center contingent on permit approval from the state Department of Transportation.
Voting in favor were Henry Frey Jr., Benjamin Landon, Anthony Mussare, Ed Weinhoffer, Richard Harris Jr. and Robert Cronin. Dan Cupp abstained. J. Bernard Schelb and Jeffrey Tompkins were absent.
Loyalsock Township supervisors voted unanimously to accept new bank financing to coincide with Pennvest funding.
Voting in favor were John Bower, Virginia Eaton, Rich Wheeland, Jeff Rauff and Marc Sortman. Supervisors also voted to accept a fuel bid from Superior Plus in Montoursville for township vehicles and heating oil.
Montgomery Borough Council voted to accept a resolution to have the quickest, most appropriate advanced life support service provide medical coverage to the borough and region.
Voting were L. Whitlow Wertz, Rodney A. Metzger, Richard Williams, JJ Magyar and Donald Feaster. Lynn A. Crist, president, and James McCarty were absent.
City Zoning Hearing Board granted a variance requested by Tom Ott for his Total Sports and Activity Center, 2925 W. Fourth St., and special exception request of Christina and William Ertel to put a bed-and-breakfast at 901 W. Fourth St.
Voting were Marylou Baldys, Tom Shivetts, Linda Crockett, Judy Sarrett and Mary Zeitler.
School district
Jersey Shore Area School Board unanimously approved Michael Harvey as acting dean of students. The position is temporary and Harvey will go back to his teaching position when finished.
Voting in favor were board members Robert Pryor, Shelley Helm, Craig Allen, Harry Brungard, Karen Stover, Denise Smith, Harry Miller, Heather Williamson and John Shireman.
The board also unanimously decided to advertise for a student representative to serve on the school board. The student would not be allowed to vote or participate in executive sessions but would have input heard.
Montoursville Area School Board voted to allow the Loyalsock School District track and field team to use Montoursville's facilities.
Voting yes were Jill Kaplan, Scott Konkle, George Leight, Tom McNamara, Jeffery Schans, Ellen Stoner and Dale Ulmer. Voting no were George Hagemeyer and Dora Pioli.
