House approves millions of dollars in local bridge repairs

A 193-to-3 House vote that requires Senate approval would provide millions of dollars to fix bridges damaged in last's year flooding throughout the state, including Lycoming, Bradford and Sullivan counties.

The projects would be paid for with $50 million from the state's Motor License Fund, supplementing federal support.

In Lycoming County, the money would pay for four bridges that already have been repaired or replaced and three bridges that will be replaced either this year or next year.

Bridge replacement work began on Slabtown Bridge over Loyalsock Creek in Eldred and Upper Fairfield townships Wednesday to prepare for work on the new bridge which will be opened by Thanksgiving. The project allocation would be $8.8 million.

Bridge replacement work will begin next year on the bridge on Route 1013 over Pleasant Stream in McNett Township. The project allocation would be $827,000.

Bridge repair work finished for Interstate 180 over Loyalsock Creek in Montoursville and Loyalsock Township. The project allocation would be $105,000.

Bridge substructure rehabilitation and debris removal work finished for a bridge on Route 87 in Plunketts Creek Township. The project allocation would be $463,000.

Bids for a permanent bridge replacement contract will be taken in July this year for Route 1006 over Ingle Mill Road in Plunketts Creek Township. Currently a temporary bridge is in place. The project allocation would be $730,000.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 118 over Muncy Creek in Wolf Township. The project allocation would be $267,000.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 220 over Muncy Creek in Wolf Township. The project allocation would be $220,000.

Sullivan County:

A permanent bridge on Route 487 over Loyalsock Creek in Colley Township opened to traffic last December. Final paving and an epoxy overlay will take place in the spring. Project allocation is $1.8 million.

Bids for a permanent bridge replacement contract will be taken in April this year for Route 2002 over Muncy Creek in Davidson Township. The project allocation would be $1.3 million.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 154 over Loyalsock Creek in Forks Township. The project allocation would be $188,000.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 87 over Kettle Creek in Hillsgrove Township. The project allocation would be $230,000.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 87 over Loyalsock Creek in Hillsgrove Township. The project allocation would be $111,000.

Bradford County:

Bridge replacement work finished for Route 4033 over tributary of Sugar Creek in Columbia Township. The project allocation would be $500,000.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 514 over tributary of north branch of Towanda Creek in Granville Township. The project allocation would be $104,000.

Bids were opened on March 1 for a bridge replacement contract for Route 187 over Trout Stream in Orwell Township. Work will begin in April with the bridge completed in the fall. The project allocation would be $1.7 million.

Bridge repair work finished for Route 6 over Mill Creek in West Burlington Township. The project allocation would be $113,000.

Bids will be opened at the end of April for a bridge replacement contract for Route 187 over Wappasening Creek in Windham Township. Work will begin in the summer and finish in late 2013. The project allocation would be $6.9 million.
