It's the colors, many of them bright and smacking of spring attire, that catch the eye as one approaches Maurices, a newly opened women's store at the Lycoming Mall.
"Our target customer is a twenty-something woman," said shop manager Jessica Thomas. "We are known for being a small town specialty store."
On March 29 the store held its grand opening.
Racks of clothes in the Lycoming Mall’s new clothing store for women, Maurice’s.
It represented a sort of homecoming for the shop, which had been in the mall for a brief time a number of years ago.
Now, Thomas is hoping the business finds itself a customer base here in Lycoming County.
"We are excited to be back at the mall," she said.

Sun. - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thomas said the store offers casual wear and other women's clothing, as well as accessories such as handbags, belts, jewelry, scarves, sunglasses and even cosmetics.
"We carry a lot of spring dresses," she said. "We carry clothing appropriate for work."
A customer familiar with Maurices comes for different reasons. Thomas calls the store a great place to shop for casual wear for vacations.
"They know we have a great selection," she said. She likens the customer experience to that of shopping with a girlfriend. "We have casual, dressy and accessories, pretty much head to toe outfitting," she said. "We do carry Silver jeans."
And, she said shoppers can take advantage of good prices, adding that she feels what really sets the shop apart is its customer service. "Our customer philosophy is to create an unforgettable experience that leaves you feeling your best," she said.
The store employs eight people.
Although many young women may find Maurices to their satisfaction, older shoppers won't go away disappointed, Thomas said.
The store carries a wide range in sizes of clothing.
She refers to one of the shop's catch phrases: "Fashion Among Girlfriends."
Maurices, part of the Ascena Retail Group Inc., originated in 1931 when E. Maurice Labovitz opened a single store in Duluth, Minn. It has grown nationwide to more than 750 stores in 44 states.
