TODAY

Fisherman's breakfast

TROUT RUN - Wallis Run United Methodist Church, 9915 Wallis Run Road, will hold a fisherman's breakfast from 6:30 a.m.-noon. The menu will include pancakes, home fries, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice and coffee. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 10 and under.

Chicken biscuit supper

Heshbon Park United Methodist Church, 2898 Heshbon Road, will hold a chicken and biscuit supper featuring homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, beverage and dessert from 4-6 p.m. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $4 for children and under 6 are free. Takeouts available.

Items submitted for Area Church Briefs will run just once. Those submitting information should indicate which Saturday the item is to be used. To ensure publication, briefs should be submitted at least one week prior to the requested publication date via the Sun-Gazette's Virtual Newsroom or email to religion@sungazette.com. DuBoistown United Methodist Church, 133 Summer St., will hold a baked steak supper from 4-6 p.m. Meal will include baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, roll and dessert. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $4.50 for children 3-10, and free for those under 3. Takeouts available.

Hymn sing

UNITYVILLE - St. John Lutheran Church, Moreland Baptist Road, will hold its annual hymn sing at 7 p.m. The hymn sing and a free-will offering benefit the World Hunger Appeal. Directions: From Route 42 at the Unityville Fire Hall, turn onto Moreland Baptist Road and go three miles to the church.

Concert scheduled

LAIRDSVILLE - Dusty Aleman will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. at Lairdsville Faith Church, 6786 Route 118. Call Pastor Max L. Walters Jr. for more information at 584-2765.

Orthodox Easter celebration

Orthodox Easter will be observed at 11:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane in Loyalsock Township, off Northway Road. Before midnight, the light of a single candle is taken from the altar and shared with those in attendance. With lighted candles, an outdoor procession around the church is held, commemorating the myrrh-bearing women going to the tomb of Christ and, finding it empty, announced His glorious resurrection from the dead. The procession then enters a now fully-lighted church and joyfully sings the resurrection services into the night. At the conclusion of the service, eggs and paschal foods will be blessed and worshippers will partake of a bounteous banquet to be held in the parish's Fellowship Center. There is no other morning service. The parish will sing vespers at 4 p.m. on Easter Sunday (April 15) followed by an Open House. Details at holycrosswilliamsport.org

Stained glass window study

First Baptist Church, 380 W. Fourth St., will hold a stained glass window study during its growth hour from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Lecturers will be the Revs. Gwen Bernstine, Larry Waltz and Dr. Robert Manzinger. Today, Manzinger will address why Charles Spurgeon was chosen as the theme for one of the sanctuary windows.

Revival meeting

Steam Valley Bible Church, 570 Route 184 West, 1/2-mile from Fry's Turkey Ranch, will hold revival meetings at 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday. Dr. E. Aglow meeting set

The Williamsport/Montoursville Aglow International Lighthouse will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Assembly of God, 332 N. Loyalsock Ave. in Montoursville. Miriam Logan, a longtime Aglow member and area president, will be the speaker.

Interfaith creation care symposium

SELINSGROVE - St. Pius X Church, 112 Fairview Drive, will hold an Interfaith Creation Care Symposium from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Presented by the Rivertown Coalition for Clean Air and Clean Water, all people of faith are invited to attend to become informed on environmental issues from a faith perspective, connect with other people of faith (clergy and laity), share resources, consider options for action, encourage one another, pray together for guidance and direction, and celebrate Creation. Moderated by Mark Lawrence of Newsradio WKOK 1070, speakers include environmental scientist Kevin Heatley; The Rev. Ricky Phillips, Lutheran pastor, hospice chaplain and environmental advocate; William Sharp, co-founder and director of Transition Centre and board member of PA Interfaith Power and Light; and The Rev. Leah Schade, Lutheran pastor and co-founder of the Interfaith Sacred Earth Coalition. Cost for the event is $10. Lunch is included.

Basement sale

Fairfield United Methodist Church, 833 Fairfield Church Road, will hold a basement sale from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. All clothing is free. Lunch and baked goods will be available.

Basement Sale

Mill Creek United Methodist Church, 2255 Warrensville Road, will hold a basement sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will be available.

Pancake breakfast

St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2233 Linn St., is holding its monthly all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. In addition to pancakes, two eggs, three pieces of sausage of bacon, coffee or tea and juice is available. Cost is $7 for adults, $4.50 for children 6-12 and free for those under 6.

Giant yard sale

First Ward Fire Hall on Hastings Street in South Williamsport will host a giant yard sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. as a fundraiser hosted by Messiah Lutheran Church with all proceeds benefitting Family Promise of Lycoming County.

Spaghetti dinner

MUNCY - Huntersville United Methodist Church, 5263 Rabbittown Road, will hold a spaghetti your way dinner from 4-7 p.m. Included are beverages, salads and homemade desserts.Tickets available at the door. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and those under 6 are free.

Turkey supper

MILL HALL - Mill Hall United Methodist Church, 212 S. Danis St., will hold a turkey supper from 3-6 p.m. Cost is $8.

'Daniel's Closet' scheduled

"Daniel's Closet" will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd., from 9-11 a.m. featuring free clothing for children, men and women.

Kidz 4 Education

Kidz 4 Education, a division of Kingdom Kidz Inc., will be at the East Lycoming YMCA, 50 Fitness Drive near the Lycoming Mall, at noon for the Healthy Kids Day event. They will present a program that will feature songs and skits.
