This year's Quizzo Cup was held March 31 at the Sons of Italy Lodge, 144 W. Third St., and hosted 25 teams that traveled from as far away as State College. Some individuals even flew in from Florida and Chicago to play with their Quizzo teams.
The event featured a bunch of game-changing, multi-media treats. The cup opened with a spoof of the "Win Rocky, Win" clip from the Rocky film franchise. If you're curious about the clip, it's still available to be seen at the Jon Mackey's Quizzo Facebook Fan Page.
In the spoof, Mackey played Rocky, his wife, Katie, played Adrian, and it even featured their sons, Jackson and Cooper.

There was a competition for the team with the best team uniform. At least half of the teams came in team shirts.
Some had props like centerpieces, signs with clever phrases, or mustaches, and the winning team painted or grew beards and wore stocking caps so as to resemble Jon Mackey himself.
There was a local celebrity video round where local figures like Mayor Campana, Clyde Peeling and Davie Jane Gilmour, president of Penn College, asked trivia questions while standing in their offices.
Quizzo teams, both die-hard and casual, had to register for the Quizzo Cup. The registration fee was $180 per team.
In exchange, Jon Mackey's Quizzo provided light refreshments, a keg of beer, the venue, the entertainment and the $1,000 prize for the first-place team.
The Sons of Italy Lodge offered a limited menu for ordering food like pizza and pulled pork sandwiches, macaroni salad and French fries, and additional liquor.
This year, the winning team was the Merkins. They've been the champs every year except for one year in which the team Murder of Crows usurped them. Both teams have played in the Quizzo Cup every year.
When asked about the difference between the first Quizzo cup and this year's, Mackey said. "It was like night and day. I'm not ashamed to say that the first Quizzo Cup was horrible. This year was the first year I feel comfortable calling it an event."
When asked what he thinks is the best thing about the Quizzo Cup, he said, "It's a pretty unique event. It's something that you wouldn't have seen in Williamsport five years ago. I know Quizzo takes place in bars, but it's not about that. Quizzo gets people together; it promotes conversations between people and if you only answer one or two questions, you feel like you've contributed."
