WATERVILLE - The trailhead at the northern end of Panther Run Trail has been relocated to make the trail safer for park visitors by eliminating a very steep bank that was becoming eroded.
The new trailhead is about 1,000 feet south of the original.
The relocation changes the trail length to 2.9 miles, up from 2.7 miles. The new section is blazed with standard 3- by 6-inch yellow blazes.
The abandoned trailhead is closed and the previous blazes have been covered.
Pennsylvania Wilds Pine Creek Recreation Unit personnel built the new section.
Interesting rock formations, a scenic vista with views looking north up the Little Pine Valley and two geo-caches can be accessed from the Panther Run Trail.
