I'm referring to the eviction notice served to 32 mobile home owners who reside at the Riverdale Mobile Home Village in Piatt Township near the Larrys Creek interchange. The Susquehanna River Basin Commission granted Aqua America permission to eliminate the Park and build a water withdrawal facility and draw 3 million gallons of water per day from the site. These companies have turned the four miles of Piatt Township from Pine Run to the Porter Township line at the Main Street exit to Jersey Shore into a massive pigsty on both sides of Route 220. This SRBC could have approved a withdrawal site along the river at a fielded area. That would not have uprooted 32 families, many who have lived nearly four decades in this park.
I question why the SRBC shows preferential treatment to fretful, whining cries of the gas companies while initiating stress, hardships and inexcusable moving expenses onto families who cannot afford the financial burden to relocate. My ancestors have inhabited what is now Piatt Township for over 200 years. My great-great-grandfather was born in 1814, great-grandfather was born in 1846, grandfather was born in 1878 up Spook Hollow, father was born in 1908 up Spook Hollow, and I was raised up Spook Hollow and still live in Piatt Township at age 79. We do not condone or take kindly to mistreatment of the landscape in Piatt Township that has the blessings of a team of eradicators who call themselves the commission that represents the Susquehanna River Basin.
