Albright LIFE Lycoming-Clinton, 901 Memorial Ave., recently announced that it is accepting individuals 55 and older for its new adult day care program.
The program provides a place for seniors to socialize and share a meal with others, participate in various therapeutic activities, receive supervised medication distribution, and make new friends.
According to Albright LIFE Executive Director John Ressler, "appropriate candidates for the program have caregivers or loved ones who are concerned about leaving a family member home alone during the day, need assistance with taking medications or with personal care, and want to socialize with other seniors outside the home."
Individuals enrolled in the Adult Day Care program will continue to see their primary care doctor and manage their own specialty medical appointments.
Adult Day Care provides benefits not only to participants, but to caregivers as well. Even though most Adult Day Care participants won't come to the center every day, caregivers enjoy a well-deserved respite when they do, knowing that their loved one is receiving excellent care.
Adult Day Care participants do not have to attend daily, but they will choose a schedule when they enroll so the Center has enough staff, meals, and other resources available.
In addition, Albright social workers will help the participant and their caregiver arrange community resources. Transportation is also available to and from the Adult Day Care center for a nominal fee. The earliest drop-off time is 8 a.m. and participants must be picked up by 4 p.m.
