TODAY

Chicken barbecue

TROUT RUN - Trout Run United Methodist Church, Creamery Street, will hold a chicken barbecue from 3-6:30 p.m. featuring a half chicken with baked potato, cole slaw, dinner roll, beverage and homemade pie. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 9 and under.

Baked steak dinner

JERSEY SHORE - Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church, 235 S. Main St., will hold a baked steak dinner from 5-7 p.m. Music will be provided by Tom Wetzel. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and free for those under 5. Takeouts available from 4-7 p.m.

TURBOTVILLE - Fairview Church of the Nazarene, 345 Fairview Road, will hold a chicken barbecue from 3-6 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults. Takeouts available.

Doug Koch in concert

Southern Gospel music event

ELIMSPORT - Southern Gospel music is coming to the First Baptist Church of Elimsport starting at 6 p.m. featuring The Gospelmen. There is no admission fee, but a free-will offering will be taken. For more information or directions visit www.elimsportbaptist.org or call 547-6277.

Musical to be performed

The Youth of New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., will present the musical "High Cotton" at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Sunday. "High Cotton" takes place in a 1920s mill town where the "haves" and "have nots" don't see eye to eye until a tragedy strikes the town and shows everyone how alike they truely are. "High Cotton" is directed by Barbara Huggins and music directed by Jacquie Engel. It is free and open to the public.

Blessing of the bikes

JERSEY SHORE - Crossroads Community Church, 1454 S. Route 44, will hold its sixth annual Blessing of the Bikes Service at 10 a.m. More than 200 motorcycles and more than 800 people are expected to attend the service. All motorcyclists are invited to enjoy a ride after the service and a picnic.

Ventriloquist to perform

First Baptist Church, 380 W. Fourth St., will host Kate, a ventriloquist, and Friends during growth hour beginning at 9:15 a.m.

Praise worship service

PICTURE ROCKS - A praise worship service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at the Kedron United Methodist Church, six miles north of Picture Rocks along Route 220. The service will include music by local vocalist, Krissy Kline as well as the Tivoli Gospel Singers.

Academic Fair Planned

There will be an Academic Fair to meet the teachers held at the Mountain View Christian School, 305 Fleming St. in South Williamsport, from 1-5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

TUESDAY

1st Tuesday fellowship dinner

The Farragut Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Route 864 near the intersection with Route 87, will hold its monthly First Tuesday Fellowship Dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. Free-will donations are accepted.

MAY 3-5

2-day rummage set

The Presbyterian Women of the First Presbyterian Church, 102 E. Third St., will hold a rummage sale from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. Proceeds will benefit Presbyterian Women's Mission Projects.

MAY 4-6

Youth conference set

Christ Community Worship Center, 436 W. Fourth St., will host the Youth L.I.F.E. Conference Friday through Sunday. The conference will teach and empower young adults how to live "intentionally for eternity." Conference start times are 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Special guests include former Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Erik Williams and authors Lee and Carmen Rubin. A concert also will be featured on Saturday, including the group The Walls and Williamsport Imani Reeves. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin promptly at 6 p.m. A $10 donation is encouraged. Free clothing exchange

Free clothing exchange will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 Howard St. in South Williamsport. Park in lot across the street and use the alley entrance; elevator available. Clothes for all ages; if you have clean wearable clothes to donate please bring them. If not, come and take what you need. Katherine's Closet is available one detergent per family.

Suds and Soup

UNITYVILLE - "Suds & Soup" will be held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 68 Gordner Church Road, where free bottles of laundry detergent will be distributed - one bottle per family as long as supplies last. A free cup of soup also will be available.

Chicken barbecue

JERSEY SHORE - Phelps Chapel Church, off the Pine Creek exit, will hold a chicken barbecue starting at 11 a.m. Homemade vanilla or strawberry ice cream and pies also will be available. Cost is $4 for a half chicken or $7 for meal that includes potato salad, baked beans and pepper slaw.

Clothing giveaway

UNITYVILLE - Franklin Bethel United Methodist Church, 1595 Route 42, will hold a clothing giveaway from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be many spring and summer articles for men, women, teens and children. There is no charge for any of the clothes, but donations will be accepted. All monetary gifts will be placed in the Love Fund and used locally.

Chicken barbecue

WATSONTOWN - Trinity United Church of Christ, 602 Main St., will hold a chicken barbecue. Dinners are for pick only 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and cost is $8. Order tickets in advance at 412-5325.

National Day of Prayer in Muncy

MUNCY - A local observance of the 61st National Day of Prayer will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the Muncy High School front lawn, in case of inclement weather it will be moved indoors to the auditorium. Community pastors will lead intercessory prayer for the protection and healing of America.
