Another city fire called arson

Fire officials have attributed another fire to the city's arsonist, who still remains at large.

At 10:48 Thursday morning, members of the Williamsport Fire Bureau responded to a call from Nancy Giacomi, of 2712 Dove Street, who noticed fire damage to her shed.

After investigating, fire officials have determined that it is yet another case of arson - the sixth this week and seventh since the beginning of the month.

"This fire was definitely intentionally set and we believe it was related to the other arsons," said Fire Chief C. Dean Heinbach.

Firefighters' suspicions were raised due to the close proximity of the shed to the other fires. The shed is half a block from one fire, set at the rear of 2605 W. Fourth St., and two blocks from another fire, set at 2513 Dove Street. Both incidents took place Wednesday morning.

Heinbach explained that due to the shed's location, fire officials are not sure if the fire was set early Thursday morning or early Wednesday morning.

"I'm getting pretty tired of this," Heinbach admitted.

He repeated the need for people to come forward if they notice suspicious activity or fire damage to their property.

Citizens who have information that may help investigators are encouraged to call the city's arson hotline at 327-7575 or 327-1534.
