Bar fight leads to charges for 23-year-old Wellsboro man

April 27, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

WELLSBORO - Michael T. Byrd, 23, of 12 Happy Hooker Lane, was charged with simple assault and harassment after a fight at a local bar.

According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, Byrd was charged by state police after he hit another patron at The Roadhouse on Route 6 in Shippen Township March 25.

According to police, Byrd hit Thomas Casher in the eye without provocation, knocking him to the floor. As Casher left with his friend Michael Hart, Hart was allegedly grabbed by two men; and Byrd punched him several times in the nose.

Byrd claimed he only punched Casher after Casher took a knife out of his pocket and waved it at him in a threatening manner. The account was denied by the victims.

Byrd was issued a summons to appear at a May 29 preliminary hearing.
