Outage leaves West Third Street in the dark

April 29, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

At about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, a power outage affected the area of the 1500 Block of West Third Street to Lycoming Creek Road.

According to the PPL Electric Utilities website, about 1,900 customers were without power during the outage.

Members of the Williamsport Bureau of fire responded to a report of an exploded transformer along West Third Street, but were unable to find anything at the scene, according to fire officials.

According to a PPL spokesman, customers continued to experience on-and-off power for more than an hour.

As of press time, a cause still had not been determined.
