After many surgeries and several years of fighting cancer, John heard God call him to come to his heavenly home and with peace and love he answered His call.
John was born in Lock Haven, the son of Paul and Martha Rupert Andrus, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; six brothers and five sisters.
On Aug. 4, 2001, he married Barbara Donovan McKinley Andrus, who survives.

He is survived by three sons. He and his first wife, Lois Fuller Laubscher, had John S. (Cathy) Andrus Jr. of Avis; and he and his second wife, Dorothy, had two sons, Stanley of Lancaster and Roderick of Mill Hall. He is also survived by one sister, Donna Rae Greendoner of Mill Hall.
John worked for Wentz Farm and Home Supply at the age of 15 and later became part owner. After leaving that employment, he worked at Candor Petroleum and later had his own plumbing and heating business.
John was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and had served as an usher until his health prevented him from doing so.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 100 and was one of the major forces to get the lodge started again and volunteered as administrator for nine years. He held many offices in the loom. He was honored by receiving the highest degree that a male Moose member can receive, the degree of Pilgrim. He was the second member from Lock Haven Lodge to receive that degree.
He was a life member of the Avis American Legion and the Forty & Eight. He was also a member of the Lock Haven Elks.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Lock Haven, with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Friends and family will be received at the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mooseheart Charity or Centre Crossings Hospice.
