Wanda E. Swift, 86, of 349 Pleasant Hill Road, Cogan Station, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Williamsport Home following an extended illness.
Wanda retired in 1990 after 31 years as an elementary school teacher in the Williamsport Area School District. She graduated in 1943 from Johnson City, N.Y., High School, in 1950 from Syracuse University and received her master's from Bucknell University in 1963. She was an active member of Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, where she served as a deaconess and was on the Christian Education, Missions and Outreach Committees.
Born May 31, 1925, in Gibson, she was the daughter of Clarence and Florence Davis Estabrook.
Surviving are sons, Douglas E. (Martha) of Strongville, Ohio, David P. (Ann) and Dennis H., both of Cogan Station; daughter, Sarah L. (Mark) Cary of Bellville, Ohio; brother, H. Elwyn Estabrook of Manheim; sisters, Irene Estabrook of Hershey, Phyllis Lombardini of Johnson City, N.Y. and Beverly J. Brownell of Chittenango, N.Y.; grandchildren, Sarah E. (Matt) Moreno, Nan E., Peter J. (Lindsey) and Davis L. Swift, Elizabeth A. and Paul M. Cary; and three great-grandchildren.
Wanda was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Swift and a sister, Gladys Jack.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the church, 656 W. Creek Road, Cogan Station, with the Rev. Jerry D. Fourroux officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Trout Run Cemetery.
