Montgomery shuts out Benton

Alex Worthington threw a complete game no-hitter for Montgomery, coming up just one batter shy of a perfect game, as the Red Raiders blanked Benton, 8-0, in baseball on Monday. Worthington recorded 12 strikeouts on 86 pitches. Garrett Shnyder led the Red Raiders offense, going 4 for 4 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI.

Caleb Catherine went 3 for 4 while Zach Welter and Kyle Eck each had three RBI as South Williamsport remained undefeated and routed Sullivan County, 15-0. Alex Carpenter won his area-high sixth game and Ryan Orgitano and Anthony Caruso combined for three doubles.

Kyle Datres led the game off for Loyalsock with a home run as the Lancers defeated Shamokin, 6-1. Datres and Ethan Moore each had 2 RBI in the win.

Dawson Fox recorded six strikeouts through six innings as Muncy rolled past Millville, 13-1. Fox went 2 for 4 with a home run while Kenny Koch hit two triples.

Wellsboro had just two hits, both singles, as Sayre defeated the Green Hornets, 3-1. Wellsboro's lone run came in the sixth inning.

Ryan Reid went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, but it wasn't enough to defeat Southern Columbia, who won 13-3 in 6 innings. The Knights had just eight hits to Southern's 14.

In softball, Megan Miller struck out nine batters through four innings, giving up just two singles, as Hughesville blanked Benton, 15-0. Katie Kustanbauter had a triple, home run, five RBIs and scored four runs to lead the Spartans offense.

Brie Campbell and Brooke Kohler each had two RBIs to help Wellsboro defeat Sayre, 10-4. The Green Hornets scored 10 runs off just five hits.

Jourdan Boehmer and Rachel Floyd each had two RBIs as South Williamsport blanked Sullivan County, 10-0, in 5 innings. Casey Brewer and Alayna Thomas combined on the mound to give up just two hits.

In boys tennis, Scott Durrwachter and Long Nguyen's 3-set win at No. 2 doubles lifted Montoursville past St. John Neumann, 3-2.
