A grave disservice

May 4, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Every year, right before Memorial Day, the VFW, the American Legion, the Boy Scouts, and other honorable organizations place flags on the graves of those who have served in the United States Military. Cemeteries all across the country are marked with thousands of flags waving in honor of our service men and women.

But a grave disservice has been happening these past few years. The flags distributed by the Veterans Administration are made in China, not in the United States, even though we have a large flag manufacturing company in the United States. What a shame that we are not purchasing American flags, made in America, to fly over the graves of those Americans who served their country.
