TROUT RUN - The hunter who accidentally injured two other hunters on Wednesday morning when he fired pellets from his shotgun in woods near Field Station Road likely will face summary charges, according to Rick Macklem, a law enforcement supervisor for the state Game Commission.
A 52-year-old Lycoming County man suffered superficial wounds to his right hand and right side of his body and a 60-year-old Centre County man suffered identical wounds to his right side as a result of the shooting that occurred on private property in Gamble Township about 10:50 a.m., Macklem said.
He declined to release their identities or the identity of the shooter, who is cooperating with the investigators.
"Thank goodness this was not a fatality," he said.
None of the hunters was wearing fluorescent orange outfits, which is not required in spring gobbler season, Macklem said.
The offender is likely to face summary game and wildlife violations, Macklem said. Identities will be made public through court records filed at the office of a district judge.
